Bad Mood

Me:  "If you guys were nicer to each other then I wouldn't have to be in a bad mood."

Tigger: "Ms. Geer, You aren't always in a bad mood."

Over Honesty

Is there such a thing?  I had two things happen this week that I thought were way worth sharing.

1.  I've been having to get onto to my Pooh Bear a lot recently for his not so appropriate school language.  Many times I've heard him slip with a yell of "What the h*!"  I've addressed it several times, and the last time before Wednesday I told him this is your last chance or I'm writing in your agenda and telling Mom.  Well Wednesday morning he yelled out a good "What the h*!" and I told him very calmly Pooh Bear, please bring me your agenda.  He immediately brought me his agenda and just lost it.  Big puppy dog tears all morning until I took them to specials.  So I wrote in the agenda telling mom that I had warned Pooh several times about using school appropriate language and today once again he yelled out "What the h*" in my room and if she could please talk to him about it.  Well, Thursday morning Mom had written me a note back that said thank you for letting me know, that she had talked to him and if when he finished his letter if I would sign it and return it.  Well below is the letter, before I signed and returned it, I had to take a picture.  Too funny!

2.  The other story happened on Thursday as well.  In one of my math classes a little guy named GG sits at my table with me so I can better keep him on task.  On this day, the class was taking a short quiz from the promethean board on rounding and adding decimals.  GG tells me immediately that this is too hard, and is struggling significantly in completing it.  Meanwhile I make a key myself and am grading the other students quizzes as they finish.  At the very end of the class I get to GG's and I notice that he got all of them right but had no work to show for it.  I look at him and ask "GG did you look at my answers?"  He responds with in a sad depressed sigh: "It was so hard!" And then says quite sincerely: "Next time I think you better hide your answers."  I couldn't even hardly get on to him for being so honest.  He is too darn cute!  Wish I could show you a picture of him!

Mario and Waldo

Candy Cane and Old Lady are the names I heard on character dress up day.  Who knew kids didn't know who Where's Waldo was anymore?!?   And there wasn't even a Where's Waldo book in the whole school.  Pitiful!  It was still fun though, but my favorite of the day was definitely my Mario.  Isn't he precious?  :)

( I know he looks kinda funny in the face, but I'm not supposed to put pictures of kids up here so figured if he's blurred you can't really tell who it is anyway.)

Bieber Fever...fourth grade style

Did you know what movie comes out today?  No?  I guess you don't hang out with 10-year-old girls all day long.  Today Justin Bieber's movie "Never Say Never" comes out.  Most of my girls are obsessed.  He's a big hit with the tween scene.

I am an evil.  Completely evil.  Just in case you aren't familier with the Bieb, he is famous for his beautiful hair.  My girls love him, my boys make fun of him. It's a constant topic of discussion in my classroom. At school today I happened upon a picture of Justin Bieber from being on the late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel last night.  So I have a great idea... I tell my kids in a very sad, serious tone there is something I need to show them and it's very serious.  That yes, it might make them cry.  I turn the promethean board on, (big smart board, computer screen in front of my room) and they count down till they can see the very serious picture I have for them.

And then..... this is what I showed them.

They LOST IT!  Well at least the girls did.  One girl in particular, her jaw dropped.  She just stared.  I totally wish I had been video-taping them when I showed them.  It was hysterical.  Honestly, I think there seriously almost was tears.   The boys lost it, they are always making fun of how girly he looks before, so now they loved it.  I did eventually tell them it was a bald wig.  But man...I don't think I can ever forget the terrified screams...

Only 5 periods

Ok, short post because I am avoiding grad school homework and just had a moment of hah, that'd make a good post.

I have moments all the time that would make excellent posts. It's just too bad that I don't have time to write anything. I promise when grad school is over... only 89 days til graduation. "I think I can, I think I can..."

Anyways, here I sit attempting to write a "Policy Analysis Paper." Wow, um no idea. Don't ask me I have no clue what I'm doing. First time I think I've ever felt that a class is about 10 feet above my head. I just don't get the picture, or maybe it's the disinterest in policy making and the government. Who knows. Maybe I'd be a little more interested in the government if they stopped furloughing us all the time. But then again maybe not.

Oh yeah, back to my story. So poor little kiddos have been getting a lot of busy work lately while I attempt to do 2 reading assessments on each kid. Let's just say we are on week 2 of that and we are all ready to scream our heads off. The little munchkins have had the task of writing a story start to finish without any help on the topic "What I'd do if I had a million dollars for the day." Today at school, my little "Roo," remember the Pooh names I gave them at the beginning of the year? They still live up to them.   Anyways, Roo has been working on this story for a couple of days now and looks at me today with a sincere, extremely confused look on his face. "Ms. Geer! I'm done but It's just so weird, there are only 5 periods."

So right now I'm right there with you little Roo. I'm staring at this paper that I've been attempting to write for two days and wonder how could there only be 5 periods.

Maybe if you are lucky, I'll avoid this paper more later and give you my story of what was "popped" during the middle of the spelling test on Friday and what was put in a "cup" on the bus last week that someone got written up for. You just may not want to know...

*Note...I am sure there are grammatical issues in this posting, but I don't care because I don't have time to reread it. My current editor is away right now.
