So same as last time. Not Me Monday is all about what you did or didn't do during the past week. Mine is just about what did not happen today...
This afternoon, while the whole class was on completely engrossed in the "Best Christmas Pageant Ever," I did not see an entire table of students jump back from their seats. On the floor I did not see what looked to be spilled chocolate milk. But oh it was only chocolate milk, it was not my (gum in the eyelashes) students' throw up all over the place. I did not scream everybody out of the room. I instead very orderly dismissed my students out of the classroom. I did not leave the poor throw up student in his chair covered in his own vomit. I did not call the office trying not to gag while the rest of the class was "quietly" waiting in the hallway. After not calling the distressful news to the office, I would never run out of the room, not gagging at all while the poor student is still sitting there. (However, I did attempt to yell him comforting words from the hallway, and got another student to help him to the nurse.) It's not like I didn't have 17 other students to worry about at the time. I then did not make my students go back inside the class to not grab their reading books and jackets to go outside, because it was all nice and refreshing in our room! Instead of letting my students have the extra RECESS, I was not a mean teacher, and made them finish reading their story outside. I did not make a student go in the room for me to get my jacket or book, because I could not stop gagging at the smell. Once we did not return to the room after a 40 minute delay, I did not spray the room with Oust for 5 minutes straight to get out the happy smell. My poor kids were not struggling to breathe from this new toxic smell.
After we finally got back in the room, and after school I did not get a panicked phone call from a parent. This parent was NOT taking her child to the ER because he had not been exposed to someone who had not been sick in the same room as him. This child is not supposedly easily susceptible to diseases. I do not feel sorry for this poor child or his poor unhypochondriac parent. Oh no, not me. I love chocolate milk, and want to drink it all day...No, this would never happen in room 102...
