Through the eyes of "R Jr."

Hmm.... I just finished taking the ITBS (Iowa test of basic skills).  I got a piece of gum for behaving myself during the test so why I don't I show my awesome gum talents to my friends.  Look guys, I can stick my gum through my eye and pull it out through my nose.  My teacher is all the way across the room, no worries!  "Look Guys!" Hmm...maybe this wasn't such a good idea its all stuck in my eyelashes! "Ms. Geer!!!!!!!! R Jr. got gum stuck in his eye."

(No kidding this really happened yesterday.  I couldn't help but laugh at him. He looked quite pitiful with the gum all stuck in his eyelashes.  Needless to say...gum has now been outlawed in our room.)

Not me! Monday!

For those of you that don't know about "Not me! Mondays, its a fun way to be brutally honest about what you didn't do...but did do.  Click on the link above to see the originator of the not me mondays.

I did not wear a necklace on top of my head because it was not a gift for my birthday from a student.

While not wearing this necklace on my head, I did not hear my students trying to get my attention that there was not a strange (not good looking) man standing in my classroom

I did not blush when this man did not tell me he liked my crown.  I did not squeek to him that it was my birthday while still not blushing.

After the man (Hall Co Occupational Therapist) worked with one of my students he did not try to talk to me in front of the whole class.  My students did not incessantly giggle while I talked to him.

After he left, one of my students did not yell "Ms. Geer, Norma said that's your ex!"  I did not tell my students while not stammering that I had never seen that man before in my life.  Another student did not then yell "Ms. Geer, you think he's hot!" I then of course continued the lesson without any stammering or blushing.

Later, when walking to lunch, my class and I did not run into "HOT" (Hot Occupational Therapist) when going to lunch.  One of my girls did not exclaim, "Ms. Geer there's your boyfriend!" in a not very unannoying voice.  When leaving the cafeteria I did not run into HOT again and he did not open the door for me as I did not giggle by.

The students next door did not write me a hysterical book of "Dating Advice for the Single Woman or How to Catch a Man" for my birthday present.  I will not take this advice to heart in my "hunt" for a man.

No longer a blonde teacher

Favorite ELL (English Language Learner) quote thus far...

Yesterday I colored and cut my hair much darker than it had been.  Today I shocked my students' with my "new" hair.  From the second my students arrived this morning I kept hearing "Ms. Geer  you painted your hair!"  At first I thought this one child was a little confused, but student after student kept saying that I painted my hair.  It tickled me every time.  I'm guessing in spanish when someone colors their hair they call it painting it?  But the Spanish to English translation is obviously different.  Just another reminder of how special my students are.  Gotta love them :)
